Welcome to the website of the Religious Society of Friends (or Quakers as we are more commonly known) in the Kendal area of Cumbria in the U.K. (Kendal and Sedbergh Area Meeting)
This area includes Local Meetings in Kendal, Sedbergh (Brigflatts), Kirkby Stephen and Preston Patrick. It is also the home of the world famous Quaker Tapestry and is at the heart of the area where Quakerism first began. (Often called “1652 Country”.)
We hope that it will prove to be of value to tourists and visitors to the area, as well as to those seeking information about Quakerism and its history. It should also be of interest to those seeking information about our spiritual and religious life and those with an interest in local history.
